18th century chest

Simple original 18th-century chest almost certainly from a farm family.
The origin from a humble environment is suggested to us by the absence of frivolous ornamental motifs.
The chest has undergone considerable restoration in the structure, which involved the craftsman’s work of integrating from scratch some missing parts such as the cornice and the four feet.
The model originally had a lock and key, which over the centuries have been removed with the addition of a cherry wood inlay resembling the shape of a shield.
The chest is made of Italian walnut wood in the front, the two sides, and the lid.
The back and bottom of the cabinet were made of fir wood.
